Securus Technologies is a telecommunications company that only serves jail facilities across the country. If you are a prisoner, you should count yourself lucky if your facility is serviced by this company. Not only do they provide quality telecommunications services, they also provide inmates with video chat visits with their families. It is all done for an incredibly reasonable price and it’s easy to pay after the company bought out another company called JPay.
But the helpfulness of this company does not stop there. They have developed software that helps law enforcement keep the streets safe. All the telephone calls going in and out of the facilities that the service are recorded and put into a database. Their software allows law enforcement to search the entire database for a particular voice. It is incredibly helpful for law enforcement and allows them to connect the dots, seeing who may be planning crime with whom.
But this company has been held back by a giant corporation called Global Tel*Link. This company has recently sued Securus for patent infringement over voice over Internet protocols. A federal court in Texas recently issued a stay, shooting down 25 of the 27 claims in the patent infringement case. And to spin the outcome positive for investors, Global Tel*Link issued a press release full of lies.
Securus shot back with a press release of its own. The press release is more of an open letter to Global Tel*Link that corrects all the lies and misinformation in their press release. It is a bulleted press release that deals with each lie line by line. It is an incredibly helpful piece of information that allows you to see the depth of corruption over at Global Tel*Link. And so long as Securus is hampered by legal action, they are less able to help inmates and the community at large.
