The Family Place located in Dallas Texas has been working hard to complete its Legacy Campaign. They have been a leader in stopping family violence for almost forty years.
They aim to provide safe housing, counseling and allow victims to grow and learn to live on their own. Their goal has been to raise $16.5 million total and the final $2.8 million during the next six months. Learn more about James Dondero: http://www.jamesdonderohycredit.com
The donations will be used to help with the new Central Dallas Counseling Center named after Ann Moody. The facility will serve more than 2000 victims for emergency purposes as well as pet emergency for individuals that are worried about leaving their pets behind. Included in the facility will be space for Be Project, which has a focus on bullying and making teens aware of violence and how to be proactive against it. Approximately 6000 students a year will have the benefit of experiencing this training.
James Dondero, co-founder, and president of Highland Capital Management have moved the Family Place one step closer to achieving this lofty goal. They have donated a $1 million challenge grant, which means 50% of any donation will be matched up to the total of $1 million until April 4, 2017.
Since this announcement, over $200,000 has been donated and 50% of that will be added by Highland Dallas Foundaiton Inc. which is the philanthropic part of the business of Highland Capital Management. James Dondero indicated this move to action was driven by the request from Dallas mayor and police chief to eliminate these life-threatening situations.
This generous gift from Highland Capital Management is a great way for the individual contributors to make their donation go that much further. Please learn more about the Family Place and give some thought to giving and helping these victims find help out of these difficult situations.
